The 2024 Namibian bass fishing season is officially underway, and what
a spectacular start it had! On Saturday, the 20th of January, Lake Oanob
Resort played host to the much-anticipated WK Bass Showdown. This
thrilling event marked the first of eight tournaments scheduled for the
year as part of the King Price Insurance Team Tournament trial.
A total of 12 teams, boasting a total of 8 juniors, descended upon the
waters of Lake Oanob, each fishing for a shot at securing their spot in
the MLF finals in 2025. The tournament, generously sponsored by WK
Insurance and King Price Insurance, offered an incredible opportunity
for these anglers to test their skills and competitive spirit in a high-
stakes showdown.
As the day unfolded, it became evident that the competition was fierce,
with every team showcasing their expertise and determination. But
when the final bell rang, it was Team Ruffnek Bass Warehouse that
emerged victorious, proving their prowess on the water. Not only did
Team Ruffnek Bass Warehouse claim the title, but they also displayed
exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the event. Their
victory was well-deserved and serves as a testament to their dedication
to the sport of bass fishing in Namibia.
Furthermore, the WK Bass Showdown had another reason to celebrate
when Thinus Williams managed to reel in the biggest bass of the day
weighing in at 1.930kg.
As the 2024 King Price Insurance Team Tournament trial kicks into
high gear, anglers and fishing enthusiasts can look forward to the next
event to be hosted on Von Bach Dam on the 17th of February. The WK
Bass Showdown set the bar high, and the anticipation for the
subsequent events is palpable.
Congratulations to Team Ruffnek Bass Warehouse and Thinus Williams
for their outstanding performances!
