Tactics & Areas:

We started at the island near the dam wall, which had already given us a fifth-place finish in the March 2023 tournament. Started catching fish immediately on the jerkbaits and the drop-shot, although the dropshot caught mostly smaller fish. Worked around the island and the stretch towards the quarry and had a bag of 5 keeper fish by 09:30.

The day progressed to be a typical junk-fishing day, alternating between the baits and setups listed below. Ultimately however, covering water and fishing fast but methodical won us the day. Long pauses on the jerkbait and the paddletail proved invaluable and the ever deadly, modified spinnerbait underlined it’s worth again. We upgraded 5-6 times and had our winning bag by 12:30. The dam seemed to shut down at about 14:00 on a day which saw blue-bird skies, a high barometric pressure and – although predicted – no wind, which we had been waiting for.
